Tommy Lee-5-1024x1024Lee was born Thomas Lee Bass in Athens on the 3rd of October, 1962 to David Lee Thomas Bass (American U.S. Army sergeant) and Vassiliki "Voula"Voula Papadimitriou (Greek, Basilike Papademetriou) as a contestant for the 1957 Miss Greece beauty contest. Athena is his older sister and a drummer. Lee was two years old when his dad moved his family to California. He also received his first drumsticks when he was four and his first real drum set when he turned 16. In pursuit of a career as an artist, he dropped out of high school and joined the L.A. nightclub band Suite 19. (#5) He was a young man who loved listening to Van Halen and Led Zeppelin as well as Kiss, AC/DC, Cheap Trick, Kiss and Led Zeppelin. John Bonham, Tommy Aldridge and Alex Van Halen were his principal drumming influences. Terry Bozzio also has an important influence.
